Do sredine XIX. st. Pirovac je bio otočić opasan zidinama, na kojeg se pokretnim mostom preko Vrata sela ulazilo u naselje. Nasipavanjem mora početkom XX. stoljeća postaje dijelom kopna, a Vrata sela postaju uspomena na razdoblje borbe mještana s Osmanlijama. Na Vratima sela, centru društvenog života, stoljećima su se u poslijepodnevnim satima, a naročito nedjeljom, skupljali mještani gdje su se družili, dogovarali zajedničke poslove, trgovinu, rješavali obiteljske poslove i drugo.
By mid 19th century, Pirovac was a small island endangered by walls. The Gate of the Village led to the settlement by the mobile bridge. By breaking up the walls at the beginning of the twentieth century and by sealing the sea, it became part of the mainland, and the Village Gate became a memory for the period of the struggle of the locals with the Ottomans. The Gate of the Village, the center of social life for centuries, especially on Sundays afternoons, local people gathered and socialized, arranged their common affairs, trade, solved family affairs, and so on.
Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts war Pirovac eine von Mauern bedrohte kleine Insel. Das Dorftor führte durch die mobile Brücke zur Siedlung. Durch das Aufbrechen der Mauern zu Beginn des 20. Crkva Gospe Karmelske nalazi se u staroj jezgri mjesta, sagrađena je 1506. godine, a rekonstruirana u XVIII. st. u baroknom stilu. Stari dio mjesta, ostale crkvice, tvrđave, utvrde, spomenici govore o bogatoj prošlosti Pirovca.
